The WoBurner provides a 1900m swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run challenge for those seasoned triathletes looking to push themselves in 2018.

First up for those attempting the WoBurner is a 1,900m lake swim, held in the beautiful grounds of Woburn Abbey, with crowds able to gather round and cheer on friends and family. For those making the step up from an Olympic distance triathlon, this will be an extra 400 demanding metres, and they are likely to feel every one of them. Once this challenging swim is done it’s a short dash to transition, located on the lawn directly in front of the grand Abbey, which is a stunning backdrop to perform a quick change before heading out on the bike course.

The route for the 90km bike section starts off in the grounds of Woburn Abbey before heading out onto the open roads, and through some quintessential British countryside. The route will sweep through Steppingley, Tingrith and Eversholt, where you might even catch a glimpse of a cricket match on the traditional village green. One of the more testing sections is a 4km stretch on Long Lane, which is deceivingly undulating.

After completing two testing disciplines the final 21.1km run will be tough, but the course is thankfully flat and fast. From transition it heads North West around the edge of the magnificent Woburn Park, before following a lush tree-lined lane towards the village. After a quick switch back it’s a chance to run alongside Lower Drakeloe Pond, where you might get a glimpse of Wallabies and Deer who are located by Woburn Safari Park. After completing this half marathon distance run, the WoBurner climaxes spectacularly with crowds, a medal and glory waiting as you cross the finish line.

2017 saw the event take a leap into becoming one of the UK’s largest triathlons with the new and improved WoBurner middle distance and the open water swim in the larger lake in front of the Abbey. As well as receiving a free momento for all WoBurner entrants, a WoBurner medal and WoBurger to enjoy after your race, you’ll also be ticking off a new distance on your triathlon bucket list. WoBurner entrants will have option to register on Friday 6 September with a full race briefing, or on Saturday 7 September with a shorter briefing.
