Jonnie Rendell

Jonnie, 19, from Marlborough in Wiltshire, competed in the individual Sprint in 2017. This was Jonnie’s third triathlon and he chose to race at Woburn Abbey because of the amazing location and the closed roads were an added bonus.

Racing at Woburn was brilliant, I’ve never ran through a deer park before, and the fact the roads are closed for the bike course meant I could just concentrate on my speed and not worry about coming across any traffic!

All Jonnie’s hard work paid off as he completed the course in 1hr 15, giving him second place in his age group and 11th position overall. To make his Woburn experience even better he decided to fundraise and set himself a target of £250. By race day he’d smashed his target and raised over £1,300 earning himself a free place in the 2018 event.

I was amazed by the generosity of family and friends. Setting up a fundraising page made it so easy. Before I knew it, I’d raised over £1,000 and got free place in this year’s race. I’m really looking forward to coming back to Woburn and seeing if I can set a new PB!

If you'd also like to earn yourself a free place in next years event, you can do this by setting up a fundraising page and commit to raising £500!. All profits raised go to Great Ormond Street Hospital and Melanoma Focus.
