SuperSprint Triathlon Essentials HOW SHORT IS A SUPERSPRINT TRIATHLON? SuperSprints cover far shorter distances than Sprint or Olympic distance races. If you’re taking part in a tri for life triathlon and it’s your first race, we suggest our sprint: SuperSprint Distance Triathlon: 400m swim, 10km cycle, 2.5km run The distance of a sprint triathlon can vary from venue to venue and from organiser to organiser, but it will always be significantly shorter than the other options. Some organisers will also choose to have more than one short distance offering and they might split these into a sprint and a super sprint – an even shorter race. PREPARING FOR A SUPERSPRINT TRIATHLON While SuperSprints are much shorter than long distance events, they still have their challenges – especially for new competitors. Designed to be demanding, triathlons ask the racer to not only be strong in three different disciples, but to also be able to change from one to the other. Get fitter and prepare yourself for the race by training in all three disciplines and building up your cardiovascular exercise routine – essential for endurance sports like triathlons.
